Nice find!

My brother made a nice find last week on a building site near Roswell Pits in Ely, about five miles from my home. It’s a vertebral centrum from some kind of plesiosauroid. The local sediments are Kimmeridgian and, according to this English Nature report, have yielded three unspecified pliosaur taxa, two ichthyosaurs (Macropterygius and Ichthyosaurus) and the plesiosaur genus Colymbosaurus. It’ll make a handsome addition to the handful of other Mesozoic marine reptile vertebrae that I have in my collection.
